The Egypt Game

In english we were given a task to write about what we would feel like if we were one of the characters in the Egypt game after hearing about the news of a murder nearby and being locked inside. Here is what I wrote if I was Elizabeth Chung:

It’s been really scary these past few days. I hand just started playing the Egypt game and I was really enjoying myself. April and Melanie have such great ideas, the Egypt game would get better and better every time we played it. It was great fun acting as prisoners of Set with the priestesses of Isis coming to our rescue! That’s how the game started that day, but then Mrs.Ross interrupted us  and told us that there had been a murder nearby. She also said that we weren’t allowed to play outside. April and Melanie seemed really disappointed that the game had been put on hold, but I was much too scared to care about Egypt. Who could think about games at a time like this? Imagine, a real murder, and so close to home! As the days went by, I grew less and less worried about the murderer. At first I thought this was a good thing, but I later realised that with worrying out of the way,  there was nothing to do.  Days would feel like months of sitting around and talking, and that was it. We tried to bring the Egypt game inside, but that didn’t work, it was like the magic of the Egypt game was gone forever. Then, I had the idea of making costumes for the Egypt game. We went around the Casa Rosada asking people for any old junk jewelery, and sure enough, we got lots for free! I had loads of fun making our costumes, sewing, cutting and pasting. We were all impressed with the crown we made for Marshall. It was made out of a bowling pin, a bleach bottle and some cardboard. Put it together and it was hard to believe we had made it ourselves! With all these fun things to do, I’m sure we will survive until we are allowed to go back to Egypt!
